I have a confession…I love to shop! Literally all of my memories from childhood vacations are of my mom, my sister and me shopping. We would go to places all over the country and be happy as can be finding the mall! Forget museums or tourist attractions…nope! We wanted to shop! Even if the city we were in had the exact same stores as home, we still wanted to go just in case they had something different.

And during quarantine, I have been shopping online like crazy! But of course I really have no where to go to wear these items I am shopping for but it is still fun to shop.

Sometimes I play a little game in my head called if I were going to x, I would wear this! So I shop for that item for the imaginary place I am going in my head. Sometimes that is to an imaginary gala (which I have never attended one in real life but know exactly what I would wear if I do ever attend one! Ha!) and sometimes its to something that I know yall are attending like a photo shoot or graduation!!

I am so excited for all of my seniors that you are actually getting a graduation ceremony!! I know it will look a bit different than what you expected but you still need something to wear underneath that cap and gown!! And the most popular item to wear underneath is…A White Dress!!

White dresses are super popular in the south in the springtime!! There is just something about the crisp, clean look of a white dress! And white dresses are not only a popular item to wear underneath your cap and gown but they are super popular for spring photo shoots!! They look so good with a beautiful nature backdrop!!

So I thought I would share my five favorite white dresses to wear underneath your cap and gown! These are ones I would wear if I were graduating, you know from that little game in my head! 🙂

When it comes to finding the perfect dress for graduation, there are a few things to consider:

1. Make sure it looks good both underneath the gown and without the gown.
2. Length matters – you may want to make sure it is shorter than the gown so you don’t have the dress hanging out from the bottom of the gown, plus its easier to walk in if not too long.
3. Some trendiness is good but not too trendy! You will probably look back on the photos from graduation for many, many years to come so make sure it doesn’t scream 2020! 🙂

In addition to finding the right dress, you also need a great pair of shoes! The most important thing to remember when it comes to shoes….make sure you can easily walk in them!! I can’t stress this enough! You will be walking in front of your peers, parents and teachers and you don’t want to trip or fall! Trust me, I’ve seen it happen! So if you are not completely comfortable in 4 inch heels, graduation is not the time to try it!

You want your shoes to be cute and look good with your white dress. I think a neutral shoe is the best way to go so that the eye doesn’t go directly to your foot! So nude or even a neutral pattern such as a small animal print is a good choice.

And then of course you have to accessorize!! Don’t forget to wear earrings as they will probably be the accessory that gets seen the most. The gown will most likely cover your arms so a bracelet is probably not necessary. But earrings and a necklace would be a good choice. You can keep the necklace simple and add a statement earring in the color of your gown or maybe even your school colors to show your school spirit!!
