Its a new school year, with a new set of LKP models and clients heading off to college!  Class of 2019….are you ready to be Freshman again? 🙂  I know so many of you are moving in to your new homes (dorms) and getting ready for Sorority Rush!!  It is such an exciting time and you are going to meet so many new girls and find your forever home with the sorority you choose!!

So to help you out, one of my former LKP Models and now a current college Senior, Cam Stepp, is sharing with you her tips for Rush!!  She has some great advice below to help you through the process!!  Check it out!!

Hi everyone!!  My name is Cam Stepp and I am a rising senior at Clemson University!  I am in a sorority here and last year I served the position as Co-Director of Recruitment.  I am so excited to meet all of the new girls that will be coming and I hope yall are excited as well!  I’m here to give you some tips to help you prepare for sorority recruitment!  So let’s get started!!

Tip #1 – Plan ahead!!  Choose your outfits a couple weeks before recruitment starts.  Make sure you wear comfortable shoes on the days where you will be standing most of the time!  I remember I took pictures of my outfits for each round so that I knew what I was going to wear ahead of time and could just grab all the pieces without having to stress!

Tip #2 – Get Close to your Pi Chi and the girls in your group!  Your Pi Chi is your go-to person for any questions or concerns involving the recruitment process.  I got so close to mine and she would hype our group up every day so we felt confident in ourselves!  She was such a great person to talk to and she could answer any question I had!

Tip #3 – Follow Sororities Insta Accounts!!  I know it probably sounds weird but trust me, you want to stalk them and know what all they do!!  You can look at their highlights, pictures and websites that they have listed in their Insta bios.  This will give you a sense of what each sorority is all about.  The sororities will update their page a lot during recruitment so be sure to check it often and see what each sorority has been up to this summer and see how they are prepping for recruitment!  And be sure to watch the awesome recruitment videos to get extra excited!!

Tip #4 – Bring snacks and drink lots of water!!  You will be doing a lot of standing and talking to a lot of girls throughout the day!  You need to keep your health in mind during this and make sure you get lots of sleep the night before!!

Tip #5 – Bring a small makeup bag for touch ups and mints!!  I brought a makeup bag everyday for little touch ups every now and then. And putting on chapstick is a must!  I brought gum my first day and that was a huge mistake because you don’t want to smack your gum while talking to a girl..so mints work best!  I think I had at least five mint containers with me at all times and just ate them throughout the day!  It worked like magic!

Tip #6 – Be Yourself!!  These girls are dying to meet you!  They have been planning for months for this exact moment!  They want to meet the REAL you and to know as much as they can about you in the short couple of minutes you are talking!  Be being yourself, you will be able to tell if that sorority is the best fit for you and by how much you connect with the girls in that sorority.

Tip #7 – Always have an open mind!  Lots of girls go through rush think they already know what they want and don’t want to find out what others are like.  But you want to go in with a clean slate and an open mind.  You should be interested in meeting girls in all the different sororities, not just the ones in the sororities you think you want.  Sometimes it turns out that the one you think you want is not the right one at all so by keeping an open mind and not going in with any preconceived notions, you will be able to truly find the right sorority for you!

Tip #8 – If it doesn’t work out, don’t worry!  If you don’t get the sorority you want, don’t be hard on yourself!  In college, there are so many different things you can do and you can be involved in a ton of different ways!  There is something for everyone and you will find that something that is just right for you!!
