I love concept shoots! It is the chance to think outside the box, do something different and play stylist (which I love)! Brainstorming a theme or concept is fun! Ideas can come from anywhere – magazines, Pinterest, movies, etc. I love when senior clients are open to doing something different and incorporating a theme or concept into their photo shoot. Back in July, I planned a concept shoot with a Glamping Theme. I was inspired by a wedding photo I saw on Pinterest of a teepee with flowers. That was enough to spark the creative juices and create a photo shoot with a best friend
glamping weekend theme. When planning these type of shoots, styling and location are so important! These two things work together to tell the story of the concept. So after I decided on a theme, I started looking for the location. I found this awesome campground near Athens, GA that was perfect for the shoot. They had these awesome teepees that provided the perfect backdrop for this theme. The next step in planning this shoot was to create a wardrobe that was perfect for the concept. I wanted an editorial look so the clothing needed to be something different, not your typical campground wear. So I found the perfect clothing that was woodsy but glamorous! By choosing a dress that was made out of fabric you would typically see at a campout but it a new way as a dress provided the perfect editorial look. The sequin skirt paired with the tribal top added sparkle. Accessories are just as important as the clothing itself and I knew the perfect thing to pair with these outfits. Twine and Twig is a jewelry company in Charlotte, North Carolina that creates unique pieces out of natural elements. Shells, timbers, and twigs are combined with leather straps to create beautiful jewelry that paired perfectly with the outfits. If you are looking for unique pieces that have natural elements, visit www.twineandtwigstyle.com. Models Brooke and Conner did an amazing job at this shoot! They provided the perfect look for the
concept and we had the best time! My friend Geni, of Pink Owl Photography, also came along. It is always so nice to have a friend there to bounce ideas off of and have fun with. This shoot was fun and I love how the photos came out! I used some of these photos, as well as a video shot by my great friend Chris from The Reason I Love in
Atlanta, during my Creative Live Course in Seattle! It was a great way to demonstrate how Concept Shoots can be incorporated into a Senior Photo Shoot to give your clients something fun and different! If you are a senior and want to book a photo session, contact me and let me know if you have an idea for a concept that we can incorporate into your senior session! Thanks to Chris, Geni, Brooke, Conner, Hope, and Lelia for all the help with this shoot!
